Frequently asked questions

    • Does Glucose Please connect directly to my Dexcom sensor?

No. Glucose Please retrieves data from Dexcom's servers, rather than from your device.

    • Is my data secure?

Yes. Your Dexcom credentials are stored securely in your Mac's Keychain Access, and your glucose data never leaves your device.

    • Can I use Glucose Please readings to make treatment decisions?

No. Always follow Dexcom's guidance: confirm with your Dexcom app or a blood glucose meter before treating, and check your blood if you feel unwell or your symptoms don't match the reading.

    • Is Glucose Please meant to replace my Dexcom app?

No. Glucose Please is a supplemental way of seeing your sensor data, and is not meant to replace your Dexcom app.

    • Which Dexcom systems and regions does Glucose Please support, and what setup do I need on my phone?

Glucose Please works with Dexcom G6, G7, and ONE sensors. Just enable Dexcom Share in the mobile app and send yourself a Share invitation (you don’t need to accept it) before signing in on your Mac.

    • How often does the menu bar update with new glucose readings?

The menu bar updates in sync with your Dexcom readings (every 5 minutes), plus an extra 30 seconds to account for the delay between your device receiving a reading and it becoming available from Dexcom's servers.

    • Can I customise target ranges, units, or the graph window?

Yes. Open Settings from the menu bar to switch between mmol/L and mg/dL, pick your low and high glucose thresholds, and choose a 1-, 3-, 6-, 12-, or 24-hour graph window. The menu bar graph automatically reflects those choices.

    • What happens if I lose connectivity or Dexcom stops sending data?

The app automatically retries, re-authenticates, and waits for the network to return. If Dexcom Share stays unreachable, it clearly labels the status and keeps polling until it can recover.

    • How much does Glucose Please cost?

      Glucose Please is completely free.
